Certified Member (CCSP)

Certified members will be required to submit an application that will include the following information:

  • Professional resume (including a complete listing of college/university degree(s) earned)
  • Sample work product (three reports actually prepared by applicant)
  • Letter of recommendation from two Board members
  • Application fee and applicable test fee
  • A statement certifying that any and all information contained in the application/testing process is true and accurate

Interview Process

Following review of the application, the ASCSP may, at its discretion conduct an interview with the candidate either in person or over the phone. Following successful completion of the interview process, the candidate will be approved to take the Certified Member examination.

The Examination

The examination process will consist of two parts:

Part I
100+ question multiple choice exam covering

  • Technical issues
  • Legal and tax issues
  • Ethics and standards

Part II
Written exam to demonstrate the applicant's ability to understand the complex issues associated with cost segregation studies, contractual issues and duty of care.

The applicant will be required to answer two mandatory questions plus three additional questions chosen from a group of five.

Grading

In order to have Part II of the exam graded by the testing committee, a passing grade of 80% for Part I of the exam is required. A portion of the questions contained in Part I will be specifically designated as Certified level questions.

In the event that the applicant does not meet this requirement, but achieves an overall score of 75% or better, the applicant may receive, at the sole discretion of the examining committee, a Senior member designation. Failure to receive an overall score of at least 75% will require the applicant to take the Senior exam and receive a passing grade before being eligible to retake the Certified exam.
